ADAM: That was great Jen! Yay and high fives!
JEN: High fives for suffering through all of those mosquitoes! Your “tropical zoom background” as you hilariously stated (a.k.a. the real outdoors in Malaysia) was making me a bit jealous. We finally got rid of all of the snow in the Boston area, but it’s still chilly out there.
ADAM: I looked at my legs the next day and I was shocked, 100d’s of bites! Ah but it wouldn’t be a good quest without spilling some blood. And speaking of jealousy, I was jealous watching you fill all of those pages in your sketchbook - you’re so fast!
JEN: Over the last few years, I’ve discovered that I’m pretty good with quick, timed drawings. I find a lot of joy in the timed drawing practice from Art Gym and Beth Spencer’s Introvert Drawing Club I think the key is doing them so fast that you don’t have time to care about the result. And then, before you know it, you have a whole bunch of drawings. Not all of them will be good, but this is about play and discovery. I like to think of this as drawing like a fighter class in D&D. The sketchbook pages are dungeon rooms and each drawing you fill the page with is more XP so you can level up your quick drawing skills. Here’s what I got done today in two sessions of 45 minutes each:
That averages out to about two minutes to draw each magical item!
